The Key Hiking Trail Network of the Ore Mountains Region Flöha and Zschopau Valleys
The Ore Mountains Region Flöha and Zschopau Valleys includes municipalities stretching from the eastern edge of the district of Erzgebirgskreis to the western edge of the district of Central Saxony. Covering 750 square kilometres, the area boasts an extensive network of hiking trails. A key hiking trail network of around 350 km has been developed across district boundaries as part of a project to improve the quality of the trails and strengthen this tourism-relevant section of the existing trail network. This section of the network places particular emphasis on meeting visitors’ expectations. The project encompasses the creation of a comprehensive, gap-free signage system throughout the key hiking trail network, enhanced by uniformly designed benches, seating areas, shelters and information boards.
The key hiking trail network is an important component of active tourism in the Ore Mountains Region, supports the local tourism economy and helps to increase visitors’ length of stay in the region by providing high-quality facilities. The trail network encompasses attractive, varied natural landscapes as well as sights of wider regional significance.
It extends over the following cities and municipalities of the Ore Mountains Region Flöha and Zschopau Valleys:
Augustusburg, Börnichen, Deutschneudorf, Eppendorf, Flöha, Frankenberg, Gornau, Großolbersdorf, Grünhainichen, Heidersdorf, Leubsdorf, Marienberg, Niederwiesa, Oederan, Olbernhau and Pockau-Lengefeld.
We warmly invite all locals and visitors alike to explore our region, experience active relaxation and enjoy its wooded surroundings.
